Fallout 4’s highly anticipated Fallout London mod finally has a release date. The upcoming total conversion mod will take players to post-apocalyptic Britain when it launches in late April.

Fallout London launches on April 23

With the games and upcoming show all taking place in the continental US, Fallout has always been vague about the state of the rest of the world. However, some fans will share their own interpretation of post-apocalyptic Britain with the upcoming Fallout London, first announced in 2021. According to its latest trailer, the mod launches on April 23, coinciding with the English celebration of St. George’s Day.

While developer Team Folon hoped to release Fallout London late last year, it faced a last-minute delay for additional polish. The COVID-19 pandemic also posed a challenge to development.

More of an extended showcase than a simple trailer, the 13-minute video offers a detailed overview of the upcoming mod. According to the video, the mod’s open world includes 15 Burroughs of London. Each of these districts has a different theme reflecting the region’s history and how 160 years of post-apocalypse have reshaped the city. In addition to the main open world, Fallout London also has 11 additional world spaces and over 300 interiors. According to Team Folon, this gives it a total area equivalent to Fallout 4 and its Far Harbor DLC combined.

The showcase also revealed that the mod has 53 main quests and over 100 side, faction, and companion quests. Some of these storylines intersect, and Fallout London has over 90,000 lines of dialogue. This is more than Fallout: New Vegas and only slightly less than Fallout 4.

The new setting also necessitates new weapons, armor, and enemy types, with Team Folon showing several in the trailer. While many are reskins of existing items and creatures, others are wholly original to Fallout London.

Another One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 DLC trailer has been unveiled, showing off three characters from One Piece Film: Red. The new fighters, all part of DLC Character Pass 5, are now available to purchase.

The three characters that share the spotlight in the new trailer are Uta, Red-Haired Shanks (Film: Red), and Koby (Film: Red). Uta uses her singing talents to plow through enemies, while Shanks wields his Gryphon and immense Haki. Finally, Koby combines his marital arts skills with the ability to seemingly summon other Marines to decimate hordes alongside him.

DLC 5 is only the second part of Character Pass 2, which also comes with DLC 4 — including Onigashima Battle Luffy, Onigashima Battle Kaido, and Yamato — and the upcoming DLC 6 — including Gol D. It’s been a big week for The Last of Us Season 2, as yet another character — Dina — has been cast for the next season of the HBO video game adaptation.

Variety has reported that Isabela Merced will be playing Dina in The Last of Us’ second season. This is another major project for Merced, who has starred in Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Migration and is in this year’s Madame Web and Alien: Romulus. Introduced in The Last of Us Part II (where she was played by Shannon Woodward), Dina lives on the Jackson settlement alongside Ellie at the beginning of the game and is Ellie’s romantic partner throughout.

“Dina is warm, brilliant, wild, funny, moral, dangerous and instantly lovable,” series co-creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin stated. “You can search forever for an actor who effortlessly embodies all of those things, or you can find Isabela Merced right away. We couldn’t be prouder to have her join our family.”

Earlier this week, the characters of Jesse and Abby were also cast for the new season.

The series is executive produced and co-written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann, who is also serving as one of the directors. It is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions. Executive producers are Carolyn Strauss, Naughty Dog President Evan Wells, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.

Who stars in The Last of Us?

The Last of Us currently stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. The name of MachineGames and Bethesda’s Indiana Jones game may have been revealed ahead of its announcement next week. A couple of days ago, Lucasfilm registered several domain names that center around the possible game title “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” and this ties in with previous trademarks.

The potential game name ties in with a trademark that was registered by Lucasfilm in 2022 for “The Great Circle.” Amongst the large list of goods and services covered by the trademark was video games. At the time, many believed this was for an upcoming Star Wars project, but it seems like those predictions may have been incorrect. A reference to an Ancient Circle can also be seen on a book cover in the game’s initial teaser trailer.

The Indiana Jones game will be one of many titles at next week’s Xbox Developer Direct. The official reveal will unveil the game’s title as well as story and gameplay details. Xbox has also promised the first Indiana Jones gameplay trailer. There may even be the announcement of a release date window, which is currently rumored to be sometime in 2024 according to “sources close to the game” who spoke to Insider Gaming.

The Xbox Developer Direct will air at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT on January 18. Other games that will be at the show include Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

The newest Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash trailer brings two major characters from Jujutsu Kaisen 0 into the game, as Yuta Okkotsu and Suguru Geto have joined the roster.

In the trailer, the movesets for both Yuta and Geto are shown off. Yuta uses his sword and the spirit of his childhood friend Rika to dominate his opponents using overwhelming power, with the video featuring a recreation of the final battle in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Geto, on the other hand, uses his vast number of amassed cursed spirits to perform a variety of different attacks. Another one of the game‘s team interactions is shown — this one being between Yuta and his school friend Maki Zen’in.

A new Halo game is on the way — though it’s coming to tabletop instead of Xbox or PC. UK company Mantic Games will partner with 343 Industries to produce a new Halo tabletop miniatures game.

Halo tabletop game launches in September, preview in March

Mantic announced the Halo tabletop game in a post on the company’s blog last week. The company did not reveal anything specific about the upcoming miniatures game, which launches in September. However, Mantic has a preview of the game coming in March.

“We are thrilled to team up with Mantic Games to bring a new Halo tabletop game to fans in 2024,” said Xbox Consumer Products lead John Friend. “Mantic is a leader in tabletop gaming, and their quality and experience show through in all their work. I’m most excited in this case about their passion for the Halo franchise and for bringing Halo gameplay to tabletop gaming in an incredibly authentic way.”

Mantic founder and CEO Ronnie Renton also commented on the partnership.

“We’re extremely excited to be partnering with 343 Industries on bringing Halo to tabletops everywhere,” he said. “Having a firefight play out on the table while moving Spartans in and out of cover connects players to the action in a new and special way. We have a thrilling and competitive game, from a passionate team of talented sculptors, artists, and designers who have been building an incredible Halo experience.”

Founded in 2008, Mantic is not the biggest name in tabletop gaming. However, it has a reputation for both quality and affordability. It specializes in small-unit tabletop games comparable to Warhammer 40K: Kill Team, Necromunda, and Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone. These typically involve players controlling smaller squads rather than the larger armies of games like Warhammer 40K. The new Halo tabletop game will likely be similar.

There are many years where I have trouble compiling a full list of games I truly enjoyed. It boils down to either a lack of quality or just that I haven’t gotten around to some of them (sorry Baldur’s Gate 3), but that was not the case in 2023.

In many ways, it was a standout period for the industry. But as many have said already, this year was also a horrible time for the people who make the things we love. It’s hard to ignore the numerous developers who lost their jobs and the studio closures.

At the very least — the bare minimum — we can lift their work and embrace their creations. These may not be the absolute best games of the year, but they’re certainly worth experiencing.

Final Fantasy XVI

What is the Final Fantasy franchise at this point? The series has changed immensely over the years, not to mention the plethora of spin-offs and mobile games. It’s a beast with many layers, and I find myself still questioning what I want from the series.

I adored FF 15, faults and all, but the change in setting and comparisons to Game of Thrones didn’t immediately endear me to this latest installment. That said, I had a blast with Clive and his backward land. A few parts were a tad cringe, the combat took its time becoming more interesting, and I’m still not sure if the story was just good or a little easier to follow than most FF titles, but I felt satisfied for sure. I’m still not sure exactly what I’m hoping they do next, but this is a great start. 

Dead Space

Sure, this is a remake. But this new version of Dead Space is the perfect example of how to take a beloved game, tweak the few things that weren’t as well-liked, and add more to improve the experience. Not everyone thought the original needed this sort of treatment, but after playing it? Maybe we don’t know what we want until we’re playing it. The improved graphics, controls, and detailed map are the fancy accents to an excellent foundation that made way for the additions of backtracking for unlockables, side quests, and a new alternate ending. I was glad they tweaked the weapons and gave Isaac some lines in this version, but the turret sections were the only thing I liked more in the original.

Street Fighter 6

After Street Fighter 5, I had trouble getting excited for a new entry. The demo helped with that, as the game plays like butter and the combat feels versatile – I’m still figuring some of it out and exploring the roster – but the look, that cheesy music, the gameplay… it all comes together incredibly well.

I spent hours wandering around World Tour mode and fighting random opponents. This open-world mode did get a bit tedious at times, and a little too difficult for those last couple of fights. But I was into the story and learning under the trees of all my old favorite characters. Playing against friends has kept me coming back to this one some, but I’m constantly feeling the itch to jump back in fully.

Mortal Kombat 1

That’s when I’m not playing MK1. This was a solid year for big franchise fighting games and I put plenty of time into my two favorite series. But once again, Mortal Kombat pulls out just a bit ahead.

Invasion mode is far from perfect, but it has kept me coming back for various fights and unlocking new cosmetics. Like SF6, I’m incredibly comfortable with the gameplay. I love how they’ve reworked some of my favorite characters, and though the story goes off the rails a bit at the end, I can’t wait to do it all again. It wasn’t quite as good as MK11 overall, and I’m ready for them to settle down a bit with the stories they are trying to tell, but I legitimately had trouble putting this game down. Sure, the name is dumb and the micro-transactions are questionable. Still — I just want more blood.

RoboCop: Rogue City

Ever since playing the RoboCop arcade game from 1988, I’ve been chasing that high of being Officer Alex Murphy again for a long time. I’m not sure anyone expected Rogue City to be any good, most likely hearkening back to the classic cash-ins of old that cost way more than a dollar. But I was so happy to tell my friends that this one was legit.

It’s simple for the most part while zeroing in on multiple aspects of what makes the character. We get to shoot all of the bad guys and relish being a walking tank, while also laying down the law with citations, participating in investigations, and helping the fine citizens of Detroit directly. What more could we ask for? I enjoyed the unintentional accessibility wins it provided and even though the game is a little buggy, the human side shows a ton of heart.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Yes — another remake. But this one almost feels like a whole new game. More accurately it comes across as a re-imagining of Resident Evil 4: a little grittier, smoother, and thank god we didn’t have to run away from a giant statue this time. There are plenty of differences in this version, but many of the sections people truly love remain — although some think part of that original charm is missing. The combat has changed for the better, and there is a ton of stuff to do, especially with the release of that Separate Ways DLC. This is an adventure I see myself going through many more times, as it is action-packed, well-paced, and I enjoy many more of the encounters, especially those bosses. The new Merchant voice is only slightly distracting, and the performance of Ada is starting to grow on me. But nothing is stopping this amazing Spanish vacation.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man (2018) was a favorite of mine. Naturally, I was incredibly excited for the follow-up and could not wait to see how this story continued after Miles’ solo game. I’m one of those comic fans who think Venom can feel a little played out at times, but this fresh take on him felt great. I’ll also always appreciate a thoughtful serious approach to the character of Kraven. The game’s story is solid and several moments have been lingering in my mind for months afterward.

The gameplay is slightly different, especially when it comes to healing and gadgets, but is still engaging and fluid. I still love the city, and swinging around as Peter or Miles is still fantastic and relaxing. There are a few side missions that needed work, and I ran into several glitches, but that didn’t stop me from devouring this adventure like a spider bride. I cannot wait to go back through with New Game+ and do it all over again, even though I’ve already reached 100% in my first playthrough, which is something I rarely do.

Hi-Fi Rush

Yeah, I’m a little surprised this one made it up on the list as well. But Hi-Fi Rush is creative, energetic, humorous, and it’s a new IP that I wouldn’t mind seeing more of, so this game shoots to the top. I ignored Rush when it first came out, not sure if I was feeling another rhythm game, since I have none. The music is what convinced me to jump in finally, but I’m so glad no one spoiled those last few tracks.

I enjoyed the characters, the combat is a delight, and I was getting better the more I just let myself relax and react – though that Korsica fight made me rage until I fixed my settings. This led to me playing even more of the game’s challenges after I beat the main story. The bright colors and cel-shaded appearance rock the visual presentation. Hi-Fi Rush is a simple game with a lot of style and ambition, more like this, please.

Samsung recently announced a new Xbox-style controller for the Samsung Gaming Hub. Preorders are already out of stock on sites like Amazon and Best Buy, though they are still available on the manufacturer’s website.

Samsung reveals Replay Wireless Controller for smart TVs

The Korean electronics firm is the most significant player in smart TVs, and most now ship with a dedicated gaming hub app. With Xbox Game Pass now compatible with smart TVs, gamers no longer need a console to play thousands of games. The company recently announced its “Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub” program, partnering with companies to produce new gaming accessories. This includes its partnership with Performance Designed Products, which designed the new Replay Midnight Blue Wireless Controller.

PDP’s new controller adapts the Xbox controller stick and button layout with minor alterations. Users can launch the Gaming Hub from the controller’s home button, and it features built-in volume controls. It uses a built-in rechargeable battery that Samsung says will boast a maximum of 40 hours per charge. Meanwhile, its Bluetooth wireless connection has a range of 30 feet.

The Replay Wireless Controller is only the first of several licensed projects from this program. “Samsung recognizes the indispensable role of accessories in elevating gaming experiences,” said Jiho Ha, Head of Service Partnerships. Building on our already-high level of compatibility, the ‘Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub’ program will see us collaborating with trusted partners to craft accessories that further enhance the premier experience of the Samsung Gaming Hub.”

The company hasn’t revealed what other gaming gear the company’s partners are working on. However, the electronics giant plans to show more at the Consumer Technology Association conference, which began today in Las Vegas.

The upcoming event will offer fans a closer look at Avowed, Indiana Jones, Ara: History Untold, and Senua’s Saga: Hellbalde II. Zenimax Online Studios will follow the show with a standalone event previewing the next year of The Elder Scrolls Online content.

Xbox showcase to feature Indiana Jones, Avowed, and Hellbalde II

The upcoming Xbox Developer Direct streams on YouTube and Twitch at 3 p.m ET/12 p.m. PT on January 18. According to Xbox, the show will include the official reveal of MachineGame’s upcoming Indiana Jones title. The presentation will include the first Indiana Jones gameplay trailer and story and gameplay details.

Meanwhile, Obsidian Entertainment will offer a deep dive into its upcoming action RPG Avowed. Xbox says the showcase will demonstrate Obsidian’s approach to worldbuilding and how Avowed players will make choices that shape that world.

The Xbox Developer Direct will also showcase Ara: History Untold. This new grand strategy game is in development at Oxide Games and is spearheaded by former Civilization V developers. Oxide’s presentation will reveal gameplay, showcase key features, and discuss the studio’s plans and inspirations for the new game.

The Xbox showcase will also include a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. This consists of a trip to Ninja Theory’s Cambridge studio and developers discussing their ambitions in crafting Senua’s survival adventure.

The Xbox Developer Direct will conclude at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT. At this point, the The Elder Scrolls Online 2024 Global Reveal begins. Zenimax Online will unveil the MMO’s next chapter, including new features, a new zone, and a new storyline.

The first Dead by Daylight Alan Wake trailer has been released, giving fans a look at the latest iconic survivor to join the game. Wake is set to be added to the game on Tuesday, January 30.

The trailer begins by showing Wake narrating and typing away in Alan Wake 2‘s Writer’s Room as black smoke enters through the windows. After grabbing a flashlight, he finds himself in a dark and ominous forest.

The newest Tekken 8 video from Bandai Namco Entertainment is a special one, as it features Succession‘s Brian Cox summarizing the series’ story.

Throughout the video, Cox delves into the wild and violent history of Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya Mishima, and Jin Kazama. Alongside footage from each of the games, the acclaimed actor explains how the Mishima family constantly undermines and attempts to murder one another, leading into Tekken 8‘s climactic clash.

The previously Xbox/PC-exclusive video game Hi-Fi Rush has been rated for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch — as well as the previous generation Xbox console, the Xbox One — in Australia.

FinalWeapon.net reported that the rhythmic action game, which was developed by Tango Gameworks, has officially been rated for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One in Australia under the name Project2022A. Given the game was previously exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S and PC through Steam and Game Pass, this would line up with recent rumors about the game coming to PlayStation in the near future.

Hi-Fi Rush was originally released on January 25, 2023 and was met with largely positive critical reception. Published by Bethesda Softworks and directed by John Johanas, the rhythm-based action game features licensed songs from bands like Nine Inch Nails and The Prodigy, as well as original music by Shuichi Kobori, Reo Uratani, and Masatoshi Yanagi. Microsoft is once again entering the world of kitchen appliances after revealing the Xbox Series S toaster is set to be released worldwide. The toaster comes just three years after the appearance of the Xbox Series X mini fridge, and the new appliance is already available in a couple of countries.

The Xbox Series S toaster is currently available in the US and France

The Xbox Series S toaster was first unveiled yesterday when it was listed for sale at Walmart for $39.99. The gadget then appeared at Micromania in France for €39.99. In a statement to TrueAchievements, a Microsoft spokesperson later confirmed that the toaster would be rolling out to more retailers around the world during January and February:

The Xbox Series S Toaster from Ukonic is now available online in the US at Walmart and in France at Micromania. Over the next month, fans globally will see additional retailers bring these toasters to their online offerings.

The two-slice toaster comes with a wider slot and bagel function to allow for the toasting of English muffins, frozen waffles, and bagels as well as bread. There’s also a digital countdown timer that has six settings for customizable browning from lightly toasted to dark. The best bit is that each slice of toast will get the Xbox sphere logo imprinted on it as it cooks. The full list of features can be seen below:

Naughty Dog will release The Last of Us Part II Remastered on January 19. Ahead of the game’s release, the developer has detailed how fans who own the game on PlayStation 4 can get their hands on the upgraded version for a big discount.

According to Naughty Dog, players who own the original game and want to upgrade to the new PS5 version can do so from the PlayStation Store. The upgrade will be digital only and cost $10.

Like other PS4-to-PS5 upgrades, players who purchase the upgrade will have to have The Last of Us Part II disc inserted into their PlayStation 5 any time they want to play.

What’s new in The Last of Us Part II Remastered?

The Last of Us Part II Remastered features improved graphics, including native 4K support and 4K upscaling in performance mode. The Remaster also takes advantage of the features introduced by the PS5’s DualSense controller.

The most significant new feature of the Last of Us 2 Remastered is a roguelike survival mode called No Return. Featuring multiple playable characters, No Return will see players progress through a series of encounters offering different rewards. Encounter types include Assault, where players must survive waves of enemies; Capture, which tasks players with breaking into a locked safe; Holdout, where the player and an AI partner survive against the zombie horde; and Hunted, where players must survive until time runs out. Players who reach the end of the run will face one of six powerful bosses.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered also restores three cut levels called Jackson Dance, Boar Hunt, and Sewers. These unfinished sections include developer commentary explaining the development process. The remaster also will feature new outfits and a free-play mode for the game’s guitar section.

The 13-year-old gamer Willis Gibson recently became the first person to ever “beat” the NES version of Tetris. While it has no win condition, the game breaks down at high levels, eventually crashing. Willis, known as “blue scuti,” is the first human player ever to reach that point.

Tetris player finally reaches NES version’s kill screen

As AP reported, Willis hit Tetris’ kill screen on Level 157, well past the point it was designed for. At level 29, the blocks start falling faster than the game processes controller inputs. It took until 2011 for a player to hit level 30, and players wouldn’t reach Level 95 until 2022. At level 138, the game starts throwing unusual color combinations at the player. This, combined with the amount of time it takes to get there, created another obstacle in the decades-long quest.

Fans could only make progress with the help of an AI called StackRabbit. It pushed a modified version of Tetris all the way up to Level 237, where the game finally hit a kill screen. The AI allowed players to map out all possible scenarios that could cause Tetris to crash.

This project inspired Willis to make his attempt, though even he was shocked to finally break it at level 157 on December 21. The teenage gamer almost passes out when it finally happens, hyperventilating and clutching his temples.

Tetris CEO Maya Rogers later congratulated Willis in a statement.

“Congratulations to ‘blue scuti’ for achieving this extraordinary accomplishment,” said Rogers, “a feat that defies all preconceived limits of this legendary game.”

The first games coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate during January 2024 have been revealed as we enter into the new year. Due to the small number of new releases over the next couple of weeks, the list consists of older games, including some that are returning to the service for another stint.

A new prediction from industry analyst Dr. Serkan Toto suggests that the successor to the Nintendo Switch will likely be more of an “iteration” than a major advancement.

GameIndustry.biz posted the Kantan Games CEO’s gaming industry forecast for 2024, which included a segment about the follow-up console to Nintendo’s current system. Expected to arrive at some point this year, the unnamed console has been subject to plenty of speculation in regards to its pricing and power. Toto believes it will cost $400 and will be “an iteration rather than a revolution,” suggesting it may not be an enormous technical step up.

“The time is finally here for a Switch successor, even though I can say a ‘Pro’ model actually did exist and certain developers were already working with the dev kit,” Toto stated. “I believe the next hardware will drop next year for $400. There is a high chance that games will cost more, too: $70. The next system is also likely to be an iteration rather than a revolution. Nintendo might add some bells and whistles to the device, but it will be similar to the current Switch.”

He also predicts that the Switch’s successor will retain its handheld nature, as Pokémon will be on the console and since “Pokémon is associated with handheld gaming, there is no way on earth Nintendo will drop the portability feature for their next big thing.”

The Nintendo Switch initially released on March 3, 2017 and has proven to be a massive success, selling 132.46 million units as of last September. A new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League video showing off the PS5 features of the game has been released by Rocksteady Studios.

The short video previews the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller as well as the 3D audio of the Pulse 3D wireless headset, all set to footage of squad members soaring around and battling enemies.

A report stemming from a Disney Parks blog post earlier today suggested that the upcoming Ubisoft game Star Wars Outlaws would be coming out in late 2024. However, Ubisoft has since clarified the post in a statement.

In a statement made to IGN, Ubisoft clarified that Outlaws is simply planned for a general release window of “2024,” with no official timetable noted. IGN’s original report cited a since-edited Disney Parks blog post, which advertised the game and noted that it was set to release in “late 2024.”

As of now, however, it seems like Ubisoft and Disney would prefer to keep the release date vague. No new information about the game has been released as of yet, although the Disney Parks blog post did have a brief synopsis of it.

“Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi,” reads the game’s official description. “Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, a scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted. If you’re willing to take the risk, the galaxy is full of opportunity.”

What do we know about Star Wars Outlaws?

Star Wars Outlaws is being developed by Massive Entertainment and is set to release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2024. It is a single-player open-world action-adventure game that lets players assume the role of outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess as they explore the Star Wars universe.

The game was originally unveiled during an Xbox Games Showcase last year, where a ten minute clip of gameplay footage was shown off. The game’s development is led by game director Mathias Karlson and creative director Julian Gerighty, with Nikki Foy acting as lead writer and Navid Khavari working as narrative director.
