Alexander: The Making of a God’s trailer pulls back the curtain on the Netflix historical docudrama, which examines the legendary titular figure.

The project promises to reveal the “extraordinary life of Alexander the Great”, per the official synopsis. In particular, it will track his rise from an exiled young man and his growing obsession with defeating the Persian Emperor Darius. This led him to “conquer the known world in just under six years.”

The story will be told through dramatic scenes and expert academic insights in addition to ground-breaking archaeology and ongoing excavations at the archaeological site in Alexandria, Egypt led by Calliope Limneos-Papakosta.

When does Netflix’s Alexander premiere, and who stars in it?

The six-part docudrama debuts Wednesday, January 31.

Buck Braithwaite will play Alexander in the dramatized parts of the docudrama. Braithwaite recently had a role in the acclaimed thriller Fair Play and he’ll next appear in the Apple TV+ limited series Masters of the Air. Meanwhile, Mido Hamada will play King Darius. The actor is known for his roles in the series Emerald City and the film American Sniper.

It’s executive produced by Lucy van Beek for Tailfeather Productions (China Megatomb Revealed and Britain from Above) and Nick Catliff (Rebuilding The World Trade Centre and America Revealed). Tony Mitchell (The Bible, AD and Primeval) is the showrunner.

What’s to expect from Nascar: Full Speed, and when does it debut?

The docuseries promises to follow the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs and championship race, tracking drivers while they battle around the racetrack in an attempt to win “one of the most storied titles in motorsports at stake”, per the official synopsis.

Full Speed will feature exclusive access to several drivers and teams, including Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Ross Chastain, Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Joey Logano, and Tyler Reddick. The first five episodes will bring viewers bringing fans behind the scenes to explore the challenges of “competing for a championship at the world’s highest level of stock car racing”, on an emotional and physical level.

”The intensity of the elimination format in the NASCAR playoffs is unlike anything else in motorsports,” Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR Hall of Famer and executive producer of the docuseries, told PEOPLE.

Full Speed debuts on Tuesday, January 30.

A new trailer for Chad Season 2 sets the Roku release date for the Nasim Pedrad comedy series. The series has had a bumpy road prior to making its return.

The show was originally renewed in May 2021 with a premiere date set for the following April. But after being delayed to July of that same year, mere hours away from its return, TBS announced that it had canceled Chad and had no plans to release the already-completed second season.

This comes as part of the channel’s move away from scripted originals. However, Roku ultimately saved the series. Roku also has non-exclusive rights to the first season. Chad Season 2 premieres Friday, January 19. All ten episodes will be available to stream for free on The Roku Channel.

What’s Chad about, and who is in it?

“Sophomore year brings a new set of challenges for 15-year-old Chad Amani. In addition to starring as the Persian teenager, SNL alum Pedrad is also the creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner for this single-camera comedy. Oliver Obst, Rob Rosell, Max Searle, and Rhys Thomas also executive produce the series.

The trailer for The Dynasty: New England Patriots previews the upcoming Apple TV+ docuseries that promises to put the spotlight on one of the most dominant sports dynasties of the 21st century.

The 10-part documentary series debuts Friday, February 16. It hails from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Documentaries, bringing together former quarterback Tom Brady, coach Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft, in addition to several contributors.

The trailer for Sort Of Season 3 sets the premiere date for the final season of the Max comedy series, which follows the character of Sabi (Bilal Baig) after the death of their father.

The eight-episode third and final season of the Max Original comedy series premieres with two episodes on Thursday, January 18 on Max. From there, two episodes will drop weekly through February 8.

The trailer for One Day previews Netflix‘s upcoming romantic drama led by Leo Woodall (The White Lotus Season 2) and Ambika Mod (This Is Going to Hurt).

An adaptation of David Nicholls’ 2009 book, the limited series follows the characters of Emma Morley (Mod) and Dexter Mayhew (Woodall). The two friends are tracked for one day each year, giving a window into their relationship over the years.

What’s One Day about, and when will it premiere?

“One Day tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew who, on 15th July 1988, the night of their graduation, speak for the very first time,” reads the logline. “The next morning, they go their separate ways but where will they be on this one ordinary day the next year, and the year after that, and every year that follows?”

The 14-episode series debuts on February 8, 2024.

NCIS: Origins has been given a straight-to-series order at CBS, with Mark Harmon returning to the long-running procedural franchise to narrate and executive produce the prequel drama that will focus on the early years of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Harmon’s character, NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, was first introduced in two episodes of JAG in 2003. Gibbs would go on to become the main protagonist of the main NCIS series, which has grown into a franchise. He remained with NCIS for almost two decades, exiting in season 19.

What to know about NCIS: Origins

The prequel will take place in 1991, following Gibbs as he begins his career as a Special Agent at the NCIS Camp Pendleton office. There, he forges a “gritty, ragtag” team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks. In the original series, Franks was a recurring character played by Muse Watson.

According to Deadline, the idea of examining Gibbs’ early years originated with Sean Harmon. Sean, who is Mark Harmon’s son, played the younger version of Gibbs in seven episodes of NCIS. He approached CBS Studios about expanding the NCIS franchise with a prequel, though he will not be playing Gibbs. Instead, Sean Harmon will focus on executive producing.

NCIS: Origins is produced by CBS Studios. Mark Harmon, Sean Harmon, David J. North, and Gina Lucita Monreal will executive produce, with North and Monreal co-writing the premiere episode and serving as co-showrunners.

This is CBS’ latest new scripted series for the 2024-25 season, joining dramas Watson, Matlock, and The Good Wife spin-off Elsbeth, in addition to the comedy Poppa’s House.

The trailer for The Woman in the Wall reveals the upcoming Showtime and Paramount+ thriller series, which stars His Dark Materials and The Affair actress Ruth Wilson as someone who finds a corpse in her home but has no recollection of how it got there.

The six-episode series will premiere and on-demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan on Friday, January 19, before making its on-air debut on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME on Sunday, January 21, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The Woman in The Wall also premieres on Paramount+ on January 19 in Canada, on January 20 in Latin America, Brazil, South Korea, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, and later in the year in Japan.

What to know about On the Roam

On the Roam is an “eight-part cinematic docuseries following Jason Momoa as he travels the country chasing art, adventure, and friendship through the lens of craftsmanship,” per the official logline.

In the trailer, Momoa visits craftsmen as they work on old bikes, choppers, and instruments. At one point, one of the subjects of the docuseries says that he’s working on something akin to Thor’s hammer. Momoa also discusses why the project feels so personal to him.

The Max Original docuseries is created by Momoa, co-directed and executive produced by Momoa and Brian Mendoza, executive produced by Kyle Wheeler, produced by Jason Mendoza, and co-executive produced by Paris Herbert-Taylor.

CBS has given a straight-to-series order for Watson, a Sherlock Holmes spin-off series starring Morris Chestnut (Boyz n The Hood, The Best Man, Rosewood) in the titular role of Dr. John Watson.

What is Watson about, and when will it premiere?

According to Variety, Watson is a contemporary story. It’s set one year after the death of Holmes at the hands of archnemesis Moriarty. The show will follow Dr. John Watson as he resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic that’s dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life catches up with him, however, as the official logline teases: “Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.”

Although an exact premiere date has not been set, Watson is expected to debut in the upcoming air during the 2024-2025 broadcast season.

The series is produced by CBS Studios. Craig Sweeny (Elementary, Star Trek: Section 31) wrote the pilot. He will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Morris Chestnut, Shäron Moalem MD, PhD, and Aaron Kaplan and Brian Morewitz for Kapital Entertainment. Larry Teng will executive produce and direct the first episode. Chestnut, also known for his roles on Nurse Jackie and The Resident, is the only cast member announced so far.

Watson is not the first Sherlock adaptation to find a home at CBS. Elementary debuted in 2012, running for seven seasons and a total of 154 episodes. It starred Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu as Holmes and Watson, respectively.

Parasite star Song Kang-ho will play the titular role in Uncle Samsik, a South Korean drama that will launch globally on Disney+. In the U.S., the series will be available on Hulu.

What’s Uncle Samsik about?

According to Deadline, the story follows Kim San (played by Byun Yo-han). An ambitious idealist who wants to turn his country’s fortunes around, San gets the attention of Pak Doochill — also known as Uncle Samsik. He’s a “shady fixer” who does whatever is needed to accomplish what his boss wants. The duo form an uneasy alliance, which requires them to navigate the established system in all its complexities. Throughout all of it, they’re united by the goal of a prosperous future.

The series, which is expected to debut later this year, is set in the 1960s. It marks the first time in Song’s long career that he has starred in a drama series. The actor is well-known for his performance as the patriarch of the Kim family in Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning 2019 film Parasite.

He’s also known for his performances in Sympathy for Mr. Vengenance, Memories of Murder, The Host, Snowpiercer, and 2022’s Broker, with the latter film leading to a Best Actor win at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first South Korean to win in that category.

Slingshot Studios, which initially announced the project under the name Uncle Sam Shik, is producing. Shin Yeonshick, who worked with Song on the films Cobweb and One Win, will write and direct the series.

Steven Moffat, who created the series Sherlock, is interested in writing a British version of The West Wing. Telling The Times he felt “any attempt to take contemporary politics seriously” had been missing from British television drama, Moffat said of the idea: “I think it might be necessary.”

“We’ve got a problem,” Moffat elaborated. “We think that being cynical is sophisticated, but that’s how adolescents think. Our cynicism about our politics has resulted in cynical politicians. If you tell a child they’re bad, they become bad. If you tell politicians they’re a bunch of egotistical maniacs, then where is the value in trying to be anything else?”

Why does Moffat want to make a British version of The West Wing?

Moffat caveated that his version of The West Wing would still be funny, noting: “Things that make me laugh are huge for me. It’s truth at speed. Drama is when you’re trying to be profound, and comedy is when you succeed.”

The West Wing, and the style of series creator Aaron Sorkin, have faced a renewed backlash in recent years. Critics of the show have dinged the show’s overly optimistic view of politics and its flattering portrayal of politicians. The NBC drama has remained popular nonetheless.

Moffat, a prolific two-time Emmy-winning writer and creator, currently has two projects coming out. The first is a play titled The Unfriend — which is at the Wyndham’s Theatre, London WC2, until March 9. The second is the upcoming ITV miniseries Douglas Is Cancelled, starring Karen Gillan and Hugh Bonneville.

Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg has confirmed the episode count and runtime of the series’ upcoming final season, revealing on X (formerly Twitter) that Cobra Kai Season 6 will consist of 10 episodes. He also noted that “total runtime for the full season will be the longest,” indicating that at least one of those 10 episodes will have a longer runtime than usual for the Netflix series.

What’s coming in Cobra Kai Season 6?

Cobra Kai has cast C.S. Lee in the role of Master Kim Sun-Yung — the grandfather of Kim Da-Eun, who was introduced in the show’s fifth season. Master Kim, as a character, goes back to the original Karate Kid movies. He’s been played by different actors, including Don Lee in a previous Cobra Kai flashback.

The show “takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka),” per the official logline.

When does Daughters of the Cult debut?

The docuseries debuts all five episodes on Hulu as of January 4.

Daughters of the Cult “is a shocking five-episode deep-dive into the history of the polygamous Ervil LeBaron cult told directly through the eyes of the people who were there. Hidden in plain sight throughout the Southwest and Mexico, a splinter group of Mormon fundamentalist cult members perpetrate a deadly wave of violence and abuse for decades in the name of their fanatical prophet Ervil LeBaron, dubbed the ‘Mormon Manson’,” per the official synopsis.

It continues: “Survivors, relatives of killers, and law enforcement now come forward to paint an emotional and grisly picture of a brutal madman ordering cold-blooded executions. Despite running from the FBI for most of their young lives there is triumph, healing, and sisterhood for the brave few who escape the cult and begin anew.”

It’s produced for Hulu by ABC News Studios, Main Event Media, and All3Media. Beth Hoppe serves as executive producer, and David Sloan serves as senior executive producer for ABC News Studios.

Minx Season 3 gets a candid update from actor Jake Johnson, who detailed in a recent Deadline interview why he thinks a renewal for the Starz comedy is “unlikely.”

The actor, who plays Doug Renetti, said that he hasn’t heard anything definitive. But he added a caveat: “By evidence of me cutting my hair short. I don’t [expect a renewal].” This is in reference to the fact that Doug has longer hair in the raunchy 1970s series.

Johnson went on to detail how the show’s HBO Max cancellation and move to Starz makes Minx Season 3 less likely.

“I think the move to Starz, I think HBO kind of doing their HBO thing, or HBO Max, whatever it’s called now, I think that was brutal for [the show],” the New Girl alum noted. “Then, I think the strike coming out right as we were trying to promote it…My guess is you can’t beat something up that many times and keep going.”

Johnson concluded by mentioning how the hampering of Minx’s success was “unfortunate,” expressing his appreciation for the team that worked on the comedy. “I really loved the cast and the crew and the writers. It was a great group, but I don’t know.”

“After Doug and Joyce sell Bottom Dollar to a retired shipping magnate with unlimited money and power, Minx becomes a commercial success, bringing more money, more fame, and more temptations,” reads the official synopsis. “Under new leadership, Doug struggles to find his footing and maintain his control within Bottom Dollar. Meanwhile, Joyce begins to lose sight of her core beliefs as she gets caught up in her rise to stardom. Archer executive producers Casey Willis and Matt Thompson spoke alongside producer Pierre Cerrato about reviving the long-running spy comedy in an interview with Den of Geek. The series finale, “Archer Into the Cold,” premiered on FXX on December 17 and tied up lingering storylines from the show’s fourteenth and final season.

Thompson responded first, expressing enthusiasm for the idea: “We would love the opportunity to keep exploring these characters and their world. We are going to take a break for a while, but eventually, I am going to hit up FX with a folder full of movie ideas. The first one is going to be about Archer thinking he is Columbo (that just came to me!).”

“Emphatically yes!’, Cerrato concurred. “The series has proven that its characters are the heart of the show and can work in just about any setting. I have yet to see a more charming parrot than Crackers.”

“I think the ending of Archer: Into the Cold is very special and satisfying,” Willis shared. “If the opportunity arises in the future to do something great with Archer and the gang, I would jump at it!”

What is Archer Season 14 about?

“Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that follows Sterling Archer as he navigates the changing landscape of the spy world,” per an official description. “In season 14, Archer and The Agency found their own way with Lana at the helm. The Crown executive producer Suzanne Mackie responds to criticisms surrounding the scenes of Elizabeth Debicki’s Princess Diana appearing after her death to have conversations with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, telling The Hollywood Reporter that the idea of it being a ghost is “misunderstood.”

How did The Crown’s executive producer respond to the Princess Diana criticisms?

Asked whether there was anything about the Netflix hit that she wanted to clear up, Mackie mentioned Diana’s posthumous appearances and responded: “One never wants to sound defensive, and I’m too long in the tooth and philosophical about it, but I’d say the thing that might’ve been slightly misunderstood was the ghosts, because they were never intended as ghosts. I think for anyone that’s experienced sudden grief, or grief generally, and the intensity of grief, the realization that someone is simply not there anymore is so hard to comprehend. You feel a need, and indeed even therapists would encourage a conversation with that person. I think the essence of Diana was so strong; she was such a life force that it was incomprehensible that she simply wasn’t there anymore.”

Mackie discussed how series creator Peter Morgan came to write those scenes, saying: “Peter wrote it very spontaneously. I remember it so well, where we were and what I was doing, and he shared it with a couple of us, and I read it in the spirit of what I think was intended. It was Prince Charles having a conversation out of sheer guilt and the intensity of shock. He almost wanted Prince Charles to be able to say, ‘I’m sorry,’ and ‘goodbye.’ So I understood what Peter was writing. I think we all understood it, and certainly, the actors understood it.”

The executive producer concluded by addressing the misunderstanding over Princess Diana being a ghost: “I think somehow the word “ghost” was misunderstood and it, therefore, would be very easy to think, “well, that’s a bit of a cheap gimmick,” and yet it was so the opposite,” she said. “It was written from a place of deep connection to Peter, who has lots of this experienced grief. Peter always writes from a very deep place within himself. He never writes casually; he never writes superficially. It’s always very connected into something he would feel profoundly aware of. So it felt like we were having our nose rubbed into something that wasn’t intended.”

In reviews and discussions of The Crown season 6, the posthumous Princess Diana scenes were criticized for a variety of reasons. Many reviews cited the fact that it was misguided to have Diana appear as a pseudo-PR manager, guiding Elizabeth and Charles on how to respond to her death. More generally, it was argued as a failed attempt to manufacture closure and sympathy for the royal family.

Following the show’s record-setting success on Paramount+, Lawmen: Bass Reeves creator Chad Feehan and star and executive producer David Oyelowo have addressed whether the show will return for future seasons.

In an interview with Variety, Feehan mentioned that he was interested in continuing the story for Lawmen: Bass Reeves Season 2, but that it also depended on Oyelowo’s involvement: “I would love to do more, if David is willing and able. It was partially conscious and partially the narrative that drove the decision to end it in 1877.”

Feehan continued: “But there is plenty of meat left on the bone in Bass’ life: whether it be him arresting his son Bennie or the famous outlaw Bob Dozier, who he had a very cat and mouse type of relationship with. There’s plenty of other stories in the canon that, should Paramount ask, I would be willing and able. I had a wonderful experience, and collaborating with David has been the highlight of my career.”

In the same interview, Oyelowo expressed doubt about reprising his title role: “We’ll see,” the two-time Emmy nominee said. “I mean, the reason it’s called Lawmen: Bass Reeves is there’s a real intention to showcase other stories and characters that are maybe even less known than his. That’s certainly my hope. Hopefully, we’ve blown the hinges off the door for who walks in after us. There’s plenty of other folks who built this country and were integral to what the West was. I have a voracious appetite; I’m very dedicated to the contextualization of Black life. There’s so much more to do and say and celebrate, so I’m focused on those. For now, I’m passing on the baton to whoever’s got next.”

What’s The Bequeathed about, when does it premiere, and who is in it?

The Bequeathed debuts globally on January 19. It centers on Seo-ha (Kim Hyun-joo). She receives sudden word that her uncle, her father’s younger brother, has died. She inherits the family gravesite, given that she’s his only remaining relative. But things get complicated when her half-brother Young-ho (Ryu Kyung-soo) approaches her. He argues for his share of the estate. Days later, cops arrive to investigate a series of mysterious murders that occur nearby.

Kim Hyun-joo‘s other credits include Hellbound, Undercover, and Watcher. Ryu Kyung-soo is known for Glitch, Hellbound, Broker. The cast also includes Park Hee-soon (A Model Family, My Name) as the police detective Choi Seong-jun. Park Byung-eun (Kingdom, Eve) also stars as Choi’s younger colleague and the squad chief.
