The Michael release date for Lionsgate’s highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic from Antoine Fuqua has been revealed.

The upcoming Jaafar Jackson-led film will release in theaters on April 18, 2025, putting its release at just over a year and three months away. Production on the movie is set to begin on Monday, January 22, 2024.

“Michael Jackson was inarguably one of the greatest entertainers of all time,” stated Adam Fogelson, Chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “His impact on music, video, art, fashion, culture — and so much more — was extraordinary and is still profoundly relevant. I can’t wait for audiences to be able to see this film in theaters worldwide next year.”

“I’m so honored to tell Michael’s story,” producer Graham King said. “It’s been a long journey and I’m excited for the film to show audiences around the world a perspective of Michael that they’ve never seen.”

Michael will be directed by Antoine Fuqua from a screenplay written by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan. It will star Jaafar Jackson, who is the nephew of Michael Jackson himself.

Throughout his life, Jackson won countless awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, among other accomplishments. In 2009, he passed away at the age of 50 due to cardiac arrest.

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive The Bleacher poster for the surreal animated short film, which is set to premiere at Sundance in the US Shorts section. The 2024 Sundance Film Festival takes place from January 18 to 28.

Another One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 DLC trailer has been unveiled, showing off three characters from One Piece Film: Red. The new fighters, all part of DLC Character Pass 5, are now available to purchase.

The three characters that share the spotlight in the new trailer are Uta, Red-Haired Shanks (Film: Red), and Koby (Film: Red). Uta uses her singing talents to plow through enemies, while Shanks wields his Gryphon and immense Haki. Finally, Koby combines his marital arts skills with the ability to seemingly summon other Marines to decimate hordes alongside him.

Guy Ritchie‘s next movie already has quite the duo set to lead it, as the upcoming film will star both Natalie Portman and John Krasinski.

Deadline is reporting that Portman and Krasinski will be starring in Ritchie’s latest picture, which will be produced for Apple Original Films by Skydance Media, Vinson Films, and Project X Entertainment. Titled Fountain Of Youth, the movie will be written by James Vanderbilt.

According to the outlet, it will revolve around “two estranged siblings who partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth.” The journey has the siblings using their historical knowledge to follow clues “on an epic adventure that will change their lives … and possibly lead to immortality.”

Reportedly, the film’s script “blew execs away,” while Ritchie and Krasinski were both interested in the project since last spring. As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes put things on hold, the director and actor apparently both committed once the strikes ended. Filming is planned to take place in the first quarter of this year.

Ritchie has had an extensive career in filmmaking, helming films like 2000’s Snatch and both of the Robert Downey Jr.-led Sherlock Holmes movies, as well as the live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin. The director is also currently set to direct the live-action reimagining of Disney‘s Hercules.

Stranger Things star Eduardo Franco, who played Argyle in Season 4, has said that he won’t be returning for the final season of the acclaimed Netflix drama series.

In an interview with the Steve Varley Show, Franco was asked about his absence in the recently released cast photo for Season 5. The actor revealed that he simply wasn’t called back for the final season and doesn’t appear in the upcoming episodes.

“It’s nice to hear that there’s some sort of concern or something, you know what I mean,” Franco answered. “But I never got a phone call, so I think … yeah, I think that’s it.”

Max has released the first Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12 trailer, providing the first look at the final season of Larry David’s iconic comedy series.

It’s been a big week for The Last of Us Season 2, as yet another character — Dina — has been cast for the next season of the HBO video game adaptation.

Variety has reported that Isabela Merced will be playing Dina in The Last of Us’ second season. This is another major project for Merced, who has starred in Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Migration and is in this year’s Madame Web and Alien: Romulus. Introduced in The Last of Us Part II (where she was played by Shannon Woodward), Dina lives on the Jackson settlement alongside Ellie at the beginning of the game and is Ellie’s romantic partner throughout.

“Dina is warm, brilliant, wild, funny, moral, dangerous and instantly lovable,” series co-creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin stated. “You can search forever for an actor who effortlessly embodies all of those things, or you can find Isabela Merced right away. We couldn’t be prouder to have her join our family.”

Earlier this week, the characters of Jesse and Abby were also cast for the new season.

The series is executive produced and co-written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann, who is also serving as one of the directors. It is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions. The newest Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash trailer brings two major characters from Jujutsu Kaisen 0 into the game, as Yuta Okkotsu and Suguru Geto have joined the roster.

In the trailer, the movesets for both Yuta and Geto are shown off. Yuta uses his sword and the spirit of his childhood friend Rika to dominate his opponents using overwhelming power, with the video featuring a recreation of the final battle in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Geto, on the other hand, uses his vast number of amassed cursed spirits to perform a variety of different attacks. Another one of the game‘s team interactions is shown — this one being between Yuta and his school friend Maki Zen’in.

It sounds like a few actresses will be doing screen tests for the character of Supergirl in the new DC Universe.

Deadline is reporting that DC Studios is looking to have Emilia Jones, Milly Alcock, and Meg Donnelly test for the role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. Though the first Supergirl movie in the DCU — titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow — was announced to be part of Phase One, the outlet says the character could be making a cameo in a DC movie that isn’t said film.

A director for the Supergirl movie is still being searched for, but it sounds as though an actress for the character is the current priority since she could appear in a project beforehand. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is apparently involved in the process, with the screen tests likely to take place in the next month.

What other projects will be part of the DCU’s first phase?

The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. Only Murders In the Building star Selena Gomez is set to play iconic singer Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biographical movie.

Rolling Stone has reported that Gomez will play the role of Ronstadt, which she first teased in a recent Instagram Story that featured the singer’s memoir Simple Dreams. The outlet notes that both Gomez and Ronstadt are of Mexican descent, with the duo also both being esteemed singers.

The film is apparently in pre-production at the moment, with no release date window or story synopsis available. It will be co-produced by James Keach and Ronstadt’s manager John Boylan.

Ronstadt had a long career that spanned various different genres and eras, as well as Broadway roles in both The Pirates of Penzance and La bohème. She retired in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

In a recent tweet from Rotten Tomatoes, a photo from Sony‘s CES 2024 press conference was featured. The Venom 3 logo can be seen surrounded by the logos of other upcoming Sony films, including the new Karate Kid and Bad Boys 4, as well as fellow Sony Marvel movies Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter.

Little is known about the next Venom movie at this time. Venom 3 marks the feature directorial debut of Kelly Marcel, who wrote screenplays for the first two films. The third installment will once again feature the Mad Max: Fury Road star in his dual role as Eddie Brock and the titular symbiote.

The first piece of Ahsoka Season 2 concept art has been revealed, previewing the next installment in Dave Filoni’s Disney+ Star Wars series.

On Twitter, the official Star Wars account posted an illustrated image of what appears to be the hand of the Sculpture of the Ones on Peridea — the planet that Ahsoka and Sabine Wren were stranded at the end of the first season. Two figures who appear to be Ahsoka and Sabine themselves are standing on the statue’s pointing index finger, with text above them that says, “The story continues.”

The first season stars Rosario Dawson as the former Jedi Knight, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, and Wes Chatham as Captain Enoch, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as the voice of Huyang, and more.

Who wrote Ahsoka?

Ahsoka was written and executive produced by Dave Filoni, best known for his work on the fan-favorite Star Wars animated shows The Clone Wars and Rebels. ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Migrant Sea trailer for the upcoming multimedia documentary about African migrants trying to reach Europe. It is set to premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival 2023, which runs from January 19 to 25 in-person in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, and online from January 22 to 28.

“Migrant Sea is an online cross-platform multimedia documentary about the voices, stories and realities of African migrants who have survived the harrowing journeys from their home countries to reach Europe,” reads the documentary‘s synopsis. “Intimate immersive, film, audio, and photo documentaries interweave with migrant-led essays, creative multimedia content – and more – to create an emotionally driven interactive exploration of the voices, history and realities of Sub-Saharan migration today. Migrant Sea was directed and produced by Stephane Grasso. The film is made up of video documentaries, immersive VR, photo documentaries, audio documentaries, articles, and essays, allowing audiences to “explore stories at their own pace.”

“As the creator of Migrant Sea, I’m committed to challenging the prevailing narrative on Sub-Saharan migration,” Grasso stated. “The primary aim of Migrant Sea is to rectify the underrepresentation of migrants by offering them a platform to share their voices, experiences, and stories. A new The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live trailer has been released for the upcoming spin-off of The Walking Dead led by Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira. The trailer features the duo’s characters — Rick Grimes and Michonne — as they try to find one another amidst new and old threats. The show is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, February 25.

“The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world,” reads the series’ synopsis. “Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead … And ultimately, a war against the living. After years of speculation from fans, it has been confirmed that the Netflix Marvel television series are canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On Disney+, there’s a “Timeline Order” for ever Marvel Studios production in the streamer’s Marvel section. This features each canon film and series in the chronological order that they take place in the MCU, with non-canon projects like Inhumans not being part of the list.

Now, with the release of Echo, the Netflix Marvel series have been added to the timeline, confirming their canon status. Daredevil and Jessica Jones take place between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Defenders are set between Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War. Finally, the Punisher series takes place after Spider-Man: Homecoming and before Doctor Strange.

When were the Netflix Marvel series released?

The first Marvel show made for Netflix was Daredevil, which had its first season debut on April 10, 2015, while its second and third seasons dropped in 2016 and 2018.

All of the Netflix Marvel shows — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Like Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher — were released between 2015 and 2019, with the final installment — Jessica Jones Season 3 — dropping on June 14, 2019.
